Day 21 & 22. Montreal

Montreal, very difficult to get around as the freeway system is in terrible condition and I have never seen so much road work with detours and road closures in my life.

The old city of Montreal, not as nice as old Quebec but interesting just the same.

Lots of restaurants, we chose this one for breakfast

City hall
The Chateau Ramezay, There is more than 500 years of history in this building, it was the first building in Canada to be classified an historic monument and was recognised as an important historic site by the daughters of the American Revolution.

Old Montreal street scenes

Olympic stadium and athletes village, the stadium is hardly used but is being renovated, the village has been turned into apartments and is also being renovated. The Biosphere which was built for the 1970's World fair.

The Underground shopping mall that stretches across the entire city that allows shopping to be done in winter without leaving the railway system.

Part of the decaying freeway system that is being rebuilt during the non winter months. Part of one overpass colapsed and killed 3 people a couple of years ago which has got the Govt more interested in the repairs
